In the middle of december, 1920 The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkish Republic has visited Tbilisi. During his visit official meetings were held and the dicision to open Embassy of Georgia in Ankara has been made. On december 31, 1920 the embassador of Georgia Svimon Mdivani has visited Turkey. On 2 February, 1921 he was received by Mustafa Kemal and was given the letter of trustworthy. Candid meeting was held between Mustafa Kemal and the ambessador. The new lider of Turkey had celebrated the ambessador the internationhal recognition of Georgia as a sovereign state. According to his words this fact gratifies Turkey. He has signified the close relations of Turkey and Georgia by following words:
“Not only sympathy, but the same aim binds us with Georgia. We are in need of strong east. Especially in the strong Caucasus. We feel the need for Georgians, the most powerful people of Caucasus. Independent and strong Georgia is essential for us. We cooperated with Georgia should endeavour for the independence of other states of Caucasus."
